From LeBron James to Steph Curry, many of the biggest stars in the NBA have gone on record with harsh criticism for President Donald Trump. Now, one of the league’s potential stars of tomorrow is weighing in — and he’s taken the Curry/James critiques even further.
In an interview with Fox Sports Australia, Ben Simmons — the No. 1 overall draft pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in 2016, who missed the 2016-2017 season due to foot and ankle injuries — offered some choice words when asked about his thoughts on the debate between protesting players, and Trump.
“I think he’s an idiot,” Simmons said of the President. “If we were in Australia right now, a lot of people would call him a d*ckhead, and that’s how I personally feel.”
Simmons — a Melbourne native who moved to Florida to play high school basketball at age 15 — told the Australian outlet that he doesn’t believe Trump is well-suited for the office he currently holds.
“Everyone respects America, and everyone thinks America is a great country,” Simmons said. “But he’s the wrong person to be in charge of it.”
